Advantages & expectations
In 2003 Mercator-Education started with the European School Network project, a digital network for multilingual schools in minority language areas in the European Union.
Expectations:

“To create a platform for multilingual schools in minority regions within the European Union in order to facilitate the exchange of information and experiences.”
For which schools is the network intended?
All schools involved in pre-primary, primary and secondary education that actively utilize their minority language next to the national language in their education system.
Advantages:
- Information regarding minority languages and education via our website;
- Creative ideas and suggestions for partnership projects with other member-schools, varying from interactive ICT-projects to exchange programs between teachers and/or pupils of the member-schools;
- Reports and editorials about past partnership projects between member-schools;
- Information regarding subsidiary facilities for exchange programs and such;
- An overview of publishers who issue teaching materials in minority languages;
- A quarterly digital newsletter in which member-schools will be kept up to date regarding developments in the field of education and minority languages.
Expectations:
Membership of the network is free of charge and obligations. However, we want to encourage participating schools to:
- share interesting projects with us;
- candidate for the news item in our newsletter, in which one school is highlighted;
- get in touch with other schools to organize exchanges , ICT projects or else;
- ask questions, share ideas or give remarks about the network.
