| Remarks |
We had a multicultural term from April to June 2008 with Scots language at the centre. For our school improvement plan for 2008/9 one of our priorities is "to raise awareness of Scots as a language and progress Scottish culture as idendified in the learning outcomes for Curriculum for Excellence" We have a link with a school in Weifang China and our present P6 have been learning Mandarin for almost a year. P6 pupils are exchanging letters and learning about Chinese culture. We exchange text books and I have visited the school to share good teaching practices. We also have a link with Lauderdale Primary in Mulange, Malawi. Our whole school have been involved in raising funds to build 2 classrooms for the pupils which we have successfully completed. Our present P7 class have sent letters and photos over the last 2 and a half years, exchanging life experiences with pupils from the school. We face problems raising funds to purchase good resources, training to build confidence in all teaching staff and writing a progressive programme of work. We are very much looking forward to joining the Mercator Group and sharing ideas and experiences with our fellow schools in Europe. |
